Such a shame. A world Class restaurant in a non-descript storefront in the non-descript, hopelessly anonymous, painfully boring suburb of Western Springs (of all the places on God's Green Earth) suddenly bites the dust. Even though I live only one and a half blocks away, just never got around tuit Thinking it would always be there. Just across the drive from the Hardware Store. The menu just seemed a little foo-foo for me. Sadly, no more. Vie CLAIMs they will open a quick storefront bistro(?) in the space on Burlington Ave. that was occupied by THREE (or more) recently failed businesses, lastly Hash Stacks. So far (Nov 2023), storefront it town up. Good luck with that. Advice: NEVER, EVER, build a business on property you do not own and control. So STUPID not to. landlords WILL screw you over. Bet they head off to La Grange. Or beyond.

By far my favorite place in the suburbs! Is it worth the trip from the city? That is the question. It's a must go if you are in the area!

We had a wonderful Anniversary dinner here at the end of May. We wanted to be sure to enjoy this beautiful location before experiencing the new one! So many memories made here, as we have celebrated birthdays and milestones, gatherings, as well as, "just because". What one seeks in a great restaurant. Always a great experience. Best of luck in the new space around the corner!

Vie is a nice fine dining experience. With having a multi course meal, plan on it taking more time (2-3 hours). They don't rush through all the courses. We did the restaurant week menu which was discounted from their normal pricing. Food: Cream of Mushroom soup - ok, I've never been a huge mushroom fan. Risotto cake with squash purée- good! Steak with smashed sunchokes and chimichurri - I liked the steak. It was cooked perfectly. The smashed sunchokes was different for me. It was decent but not for me. Poached Apples, maple ice cream, Graham crackers: this was ok. Mine was perfect but others said their apples were hard. They were very accommodating with my reservation that went from 3 people to 8 people. I emailed them and they adjusted it for me. It is a smaller restaurant so reservations can be important. I also told them it was my birthday and they brought out a special birthday dessert which was very sweet of them. Our waiter was friendly and helpful! I also enjoyed by drink from the bar.

Made a reservation for Chicago restaurant week, everything was fantastic from beginning to end! - First was oxtail ragu, homemade pasta was on point (wish there was more portion) - Second cream of mushroom soup with perfectly crunched croutons - Third was grilled steak with a tangy chimichurri - Fourth blueberry yogurt cake, the sweetness balanced with candied lime ice cream Service was acceptable, we were seated kind later than expected, but it was busy on a weekday. The decor was minimal and classy!

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Vie Restaurant. The restaurant was conversation friendly, and the service staff was friendly, too. The food was tasty with the seasonal twist. We had 3 course dinner and a glass of wine plus dessert. $100plus per person. Plenty of parking space especially if you go after 5pm ( the bank parking lot). Pan-seared scallop was especially good. Southern grits pie for the dessert should not be missed

The drinks are amazing! The have a happy hour list I believe from 3 to 6. I was really excited for the food but was a bit disappointed in the chilled corn soup and pork combo. The pork was especially dry and rubbery. However, everything else on the menu particularly for the appetizers are must tries.

We have been planning to visit Vie for years. Somehow it was not always `on the way` for us but now I can only regret the hesitation. The restaurant welcome you with great downtown vibes and vibrant smell of smoked food, for which Chef Paul Virant is famous for. We obviously get the reservation ahead of time but I saw some sitting options at the bar and was wondering if they may be first come first serve basis. The seating at Vie reminded me of famous Blackbird only bigger. Our server went through menu with is which consist prix fixe of three courses. Each course has few options to choose from as well so there is something for everyone`s taste. We took wine pairing with the courses as well which was an excellent idea. Pairings were perfect to each course we took so I highly recommend going that way. FIRSTS: Warm Roasted sunchoke salad--very vibrant, well composed with a kick from ham hock. Pan-roasted cotechino sausage--served with lentils and mustard greens. Very good start for a first course. SECONDS: Crispy Leek Risotto cake--that was a blast. So flavorful finished with elegant mornay sauce. Sea scallops-very refreshing dish. Honey thyme butter with apples was an ideal combination for this kind of seafood. THIRDS: Sirloin au poivre--a french classic, very delicious. Good quality of meat with perfect sauce. Nothing to be picky about. Bourbon Red Turkey--this course was very good, however it was like typical thanksgiving plate entirely. Expected something a little bit off that way but still very delish. We left Vie with very pleasant feeling and good taste. Restaurant uses only local ingredients from local farmers which is fabulous idea which always translates to the dishes itself. Definitely wishing to try more dishes from Vie and Chef Paul Virant.
